The WVU School of Medicines Research and Graduate Education program was looking for a promotional booklet for its program. The client gave the studio fifty plus pages of content to place in the brochure. Our goal was to create a promotional piece that did not compromise the client’s message but still communicated to the audience. Our first job was to identify the audience and gain an understanding of our client’s needs. |
Not being in the medical field, we were immediately hit with a massive roadblock, the language of the booklet was highly specific to professionals, but not to the everyday person (our audience). We immediately sought to learn about each area. We spent time with students and faculty in each degree area and learned about their research. This enabled us to learn about the people behind the medical terminology and gave us a way to connect to our audience. Each area features a quote from an individual in the area, which expresses their sentiments about their work and school. |
We also had to condense the amount of content in the book. We worked with the client and individuals in the program to highlight the key points as well as basic explanations of the research. This entire piece was done in house. Our team planned and implemented many photo shoots, interviews, and focus groups. |
