This was a unique project completed for the West Virginia Asthma Education and Prevention Program, the West Virginia Asthma Coalition, and the American Lung Association. This project was completed under Adjunct Professor Jack Moffett, with Kelly Barkhurst, a graduate student, assuming the lead of Art Director. Working with the client, the students designed a multimedia CD that taught all school personnel about Asthma and Diabetes. Through interviews with all types of school personnel the students were able to identify various avenues to reach the targeted audience. |
Our role was to design the content in such a way that the user would actually gain an understanding of the triggers and problems associated with each Asthma and Diabetes. We made illustrations that explained how things worked (take for example, and inhaler), created scenarios that taught each person what their role was, and invented games like the Glucose Café and West Virginia Pulmonary public in which individuals had to travel through different rooms in the school to find all the Asthma triggers. |
This project took six months to complete and has been presented to national committees for both Asthma and Diabetes. |
